General Overview
CO2 Hop Extract is to extract hop pellets by the use of supercritical CO2 extraction in the conditions of 50-55℃, 300-350 kg / cm2. During the process of supercritical CO2 extraction, CO2 is removed and reclaim extract at 40-45℃.
CO2 extract is added to the mashing boiling kettle. Because it contains most of the components in hops, CO2 extract is more stable than raw hops and hop pellets. It can bring the components of bitterness and aroma which is necessary to beer.
Physical Characteristics
CO2 extract is a kind of thick-like paste with light green or light yellow. It can flow at temperatures warmer than 50 ℃.
The chemical properties
It dissolves in ethanol, most organic solvents, and does not dissolve in water. Weakly alkaline.
Extract components:
α-acids: 30-60 (%)
β-acids: 15-45 (%)
Hop oil: 3-6 (%)
Water: 0-8 (%)
Usage
Usually, you should stave one end or both ends of extract cans, and hang it in the boiling wort with a pocket. Large barrels of extract can be directly pumped into the boiling kettle with pump. The time to add is similar to raw hops and hop pellets, the calculated method of amount should refer to the requirement of bitterness, hop utilization and α-acids contents.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store in dry, normal temperature place, and away from sunshine. There is no unchanged component at soft resins and hop oil about cans or barrels of hop extract in two years. Avoid prolonged exposure, when the temperature is above 40 ℃.
Analysis Method
We adopt ultraviolet spectrophotometry method and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method.

Product advantages
The volume is reduced, the requirements of storage conditions is low, compared with that of hop pellets. Also, CO2 extract significantly decrease the nitrate accumulation and the levels of polar pesticide residue. Products are all uniform and steady. It’s easy to calculate during the brewing, and maintain constant in daily use.
