General overview
Isomerized Hop Pellets is iso-α-acids hop pellets that transformed by α-acid in traditional 90 particles. It’s different from the conventional hops, which can provide more effective bitter components.
The processing of isomerized hop pellets is to achieve a steady heat rising process to 90 hop pellets at 50 ℃ for a period of 1-2 weeks. In this case, α-acid is isomerized completely, and greatly increases the utilization of the value of brewing.
Isomerized Hop Pellets can replace existing conventional products and other α-acid hop products. It can not only provide the conditions for large-scale storage of hops but also lead to higher economic value.
Analysis Indexes
Conversion rate of α-acid:>95%
Iso-α-acids: 4-16% (Determined according to the year)
β-acids: the original hops with the same raw
Hop oil: 0.4-3.5% (Determined according to the year, and the isomerized processing condition might influence hop oil components)
Water:6-10%
Products Usage
Isomerized Hop Pellets can replace the cone hops or 90 hop pellets. Expect profit margin is over 50% of the two. The high bitterness component is not likely to change as time goes on, because of the α-acid has been isomerized, even though the aroma component would change with the isomerization.
Storage and Shelf Life
The storage conditions of isomerized hop pellets should be keep cool, and the best temperature is 0-8 ℃ (32-46 ℉). There is a little loss of iso-α-acid when stored it at that temperature for two years.
The Concrete Analytical Method
We adopt the method of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
Package
Isomerized Hop Pellets are packed in polyethylene multi-layer bags with metallic membrane (oxygen can be completely isolated from the outside world), then vacuum will be exhausted and fill inert gases, nitrogen or carbon dioxide, or mixing of two gases. We use cartons for out packing, each containing about 20 kg.
